PRP + PRF
PRP or PRF may be injected into selected areas of the face as part of an individualized regenerative skin treatment plan. PRP may also be incorporated into treatments such as medical-grade microneedling, Morpheus8 or certain laser procedures when appropriate.
The goal is to support the skin’s natural repair and remodeling response. Improvements develop gradually and vary between individuals.
PRP and PRF may be considered as regenerative treatment options for the delicate skin beneath and around the eyes. Small amounts of the prepared product are carefully placed into selected areas.
Treatment may be considered for concerns such as fine lines, crepey-looking skin and overall under-eye skin quality. Unlike traditional dermal filler, PRP and PRF do not primarily work by immediately adding structural volume. Changes develop gradually as the treated tissue responds over time.
Because under-eye concerns can result from several different factors - including skin quality, volume loss, pigmentation and facial anatomy - Dr. Ray will assess the area to determine whether PRP, PRF or another treatment is most appropriate.
PRP or PRF may also be injected into the scalp as part of an individualized treatment plan for certain types of hair thinning or hair loss.
The concentrated platelets and associated growth factors are delivered to targeted areas of the scalp with the goal of supporting hair-follicle function and hair growth in appropriate patients.
Because hair loss can have many different causes, an assessment is important before beginning treatment to determine the underlying concern and whether PRP or PRF is appropriate.
PRP or PRF may be incorporated into individualized treatment plans for concerns including:
- Signs of skin aging
- Fine lines and skin texture
- Overall skin quality
- Certain acne and other atrophic scars
- Under-eye skin quality and signs of aging
- Fine lines and crepey-looking skin around the eyes
- Hair thinning and certain types of hair loss
PRP may also be combined with other aesthetic procedures when appropriate.
Not all types of hair loss, scarring, under-eye concerns or skin concerns are appropriate for PRP or PRF. An assessment is important to determine the cause of the concern and which treatment approach, if any, is appropriate.
PRP and PRF treatments begin with a small blood draw. The blood is processed in a specialized centrifuge to separate and concentrate selected components for treatment.
PRP produces a platelet-rich portion of plasma containing concentrated platelets and naturally occurring growth factors involved in tissue repair and healing.
PRF is prepared using a different centrifugation protocol and forms a fibrin-rich matrix containing platelets and other naturally occurring blood components. The fibrin matrix provides a scaffold within the prepared product.
Once prepared, PRP or PRF can be delivered into targeted areas using fine needles or cannulas depending on the treatment indication and area.
Because both PRP and PRF are prepared from your own blood, they are considered autologous treatments.
Treatment typically takes approximately 30–40 minutes, although appointment length varies depending on the area and whether treatment is being combined with another procedure.
Before PRP or PRF treatment, Dr. Ray will review your medical history, medications, supplements and the concern being treated.
Let the clinic know about any blood or platelet disorders, bleeding conditions, medications that affect clotting, active infection, recent illness or other relevant medical conditions.
Additional preparation instructions may be provided depending on whether PRP or PRF is being performed alone or alongside another treatment.
Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising may occur following PRP or PRF injections. Swelling may be more noticeable when treating the under-eye area because of the delicate tissue surrounding the eyes.
Avoid rubbing or applying unnecessary pressure to treated areas unless instructed otherwise. Strenuous exercise, excessive heat, saunas and other activities may need to be temporarily avoided based on the area and procedure performed.
If PRP or PRF has been combined with another aesthetic procedure, follow the specific aftercare instructions provided for that treatment.

Individual results vary. Evidence supporting PRP and PRF varies by treatment indication, and these treatments are not appropriate for every type of skin concern, under-eye concern or hair loss. Treatment suitability, preparation method, technique and treatment schedule are determined following an individual assessment with Dr. Martin Ray, at View Laser Skin Rejuvenation, 1443 View Crescent, Delta, BC V4L 2K2.
