Fractional non-ablative laser may be used to improve the appearance of:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Uneven or rough skin texture
- Atrophic acne scars
- Certain surgical or traumatic scars
- Stretch marks
- Signs of photoaging
- Overall skin texture and quality
Common treatment areas include the face, neck, chest and other appropriate areas of the body.
View Laser uses the Palomar ICON 1540 fractional laser to deliver microscopic columns of laser energy into targeted areas of the skin.
Unlike an ablative laser, which removes portions of the skin’s surface, non-ablative fractional laser primarily creates controlled thermal injury within the skin while preserving the surrounding tissue. This initiates the body’s natural repair response and supports collagen remodeling over time.
Because only a fraction of the skin is treated during each pass, surrounding untreated tissue helps support the healing process.
Treatment typically takes approximately 20–40 minutes, depending on the size of the area and treatment plan. Settings are customized according to your skin characteristics, concerns and treatment goals.
Fractional non-ablative lasers may also be incorporated into a broader skin rejuvenation plan alongside other treatments when appropriate.
Before treatment, your provider will review your medical history, medications, skincare routine, previous procedures and history of pigmentation changes, abnormal scarring or cold sores.
Avoid tanning and significant sun exposure before treatment. Certain active skincare products or medications may need to be temporarily discontinued.
Your provider will give you personalized preparation instructions based on your skin and treatment plan.
Temporary redness, swelling, warmth, sensitivity or changes in skin texture may occur following treatment. Keep the skin hydrated and use only the skincare recommended by your provider while it recovers.
Avoid picking, rubbing or aggressively exfoliating the treated skin. Sun exposure should be minimized, and consistent broad-spectrum sun protection is particularly important following laser treatment.
Exercise, heat and active skincare ingredients may need to be temporarily avoided. Your provider will advise when you can resume your regular skincare and activities.
Individual results vary. Fractional non-ablative laser treatment carries potential risks including redness, swelling, changes in pigmentation, blistering, infection and scarring. Treatment suitability and settings are determined following an individual skin assessment at View Laser Skin Rejuvenation, 1443 View Crescent, Delta, BC V4L 2K2.
