Botox is commonly used to soften the appearance of dynamic facial lines caused by repeated muscle movement. Treatment areas may include forehead lines, frown lines between the brows, and crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes. During your consultation, Dr. Ray will assess your facial anatomy, discuss your goals, and determine whether treatment is appropriate for you.
Your appointment begins with a consultation to discuss your concerns, treatment goals, and medical history. After assessing your natural facial movement, Dr. Ray uses a very fine needle to place small amounts of the treatment into carefully selected muscles. This temporarily relaxes those muscles so the skin above them creases less during expression, while the surrounding muscles continue to move naturally.
Most Botox appointments take approximately 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the treatment areas. Early softening is often noticeable within 2 to 3 days, with the full effect typically developing over approximately 14 days.
Before your Botox appointment, let Dr. Ray know about any medications, vitamins, supplements, allergies, or medical conditions. Please also mention if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Arriving with clean skin and no makeup on the treatment area is helpful. You will receive any personalized pre-treatment instructions during your consultation.
After treatment, remain upright for approximately 4 hours and avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas. It is generally recommended to avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, and hot yoga for the remainder of the day. Dr. Ray will review the aftercare instructions that are appropriate for your treatment and answer any questions before you leave.
Individual results vary. This cosmetic treatment is provided following a personal assessment with Dr. Martin Ray, at View Laser Skin Rejuvenation, 1443 View Crescent, Delta, BC V4L 2K2. 604-943-9399.
