CoolSculpting® is designed to reduce localized pockets of unwanted fat in appropriate treatment areas.
Depending on individual anatomy and the applicator used, treatment may be considered for areas such as:
- Abdomen
- Flanks or “love handles”
- Inner and outer thighs
- Upper arms
- Back and bra-area fat
- Fat beneath the chin
- Fat beneath the jawline
CoolSculpting® is a body-contouring treatment and is not intended as a weight-loss treatment.
CoolSculpting® uses a process known as cryolipolysis, which applies controlled cooling to targeted fat beneath the skin. Fat cells are more susceptible to cold than surrounding tissues, allowing the treatment to selectively affect fat cells within the treatment area.
Following treatment, the affected fat cells are gradually cleared through the body’s natural processes. Changes develop progressively rather than immediately.
During your appointment, an appropriately selected applicator is positioned over the treatment area. You may initially feel pulling, pressure and intense cold as the cooling begins. The area generally becomes numb as treatment continues.
Treatment time varies depending on the applicator, number of areas and individualized treatment plan.
Before treatment, your medical history, medications, previous procedures and the areas you would like to address will be reviewed to determine whether CoolSculpting® is appropriate for you.
Let the View Laser team know about any medical conditions involving sensitivity to cold, circulation, nerve function, hernias or previous surgery in or near the proposed treatment area.
Personal preparation instructions will be provided based on your assessment.
Most patients can return to their usual activities following CoolSculpting®. Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, tingling, firmness, numbness or sensitivity may occur as the treated area recovers.
Changes develop gradually over the weeks and months following treatment. Maintaining a stable weight and healthy lifestyle can help support your body-contouring results.
CoolSculpting® also carries uncommon and rare risks. One uncommon complication is paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH), in which the treated area becomes larger rather than smaller and may require surgical intervention. Your provider will discuss potential risks, benefits and expected outcomes before treatment.
Individual results vary. CoolSculpting® is intended for localized fat reduction and is not a treatment for obesity or a substitute for weight loss. Treatment is provided following an individual assessment at View Laser Skin Rejuvenation, 1443 View Crescent, Delta, BC V4L 2K2. Cosmetic treatments are not covered by MSP. 604-943-9399.
